Night notes

Privacy

Night notes is operated for its owner’s personal use. This page describes the current notebook workflow.

Information accessed

The listener receives mailbox arrival notices and reads Gmail message metadata to identify intended Kindle exports. It retrieves the contents of matching, source-verified export messages and their linked PDF or text files. Unrelated messages are not submitted to the notebook-processing worker.

Use and storage

Original exports, source timestamps, file hashes, extracted text, processing status and document outputs are stored locally on the owner’s Mac. These records support research, duplicate detection and accurate delivery tracking. They are retained until the owner deletes them.

Processing and sharing

Selected notebook contents and relevant reference material may be processed through OpenAI’s Codex tools to carry out the owner’s requests. Research may involve public web searches. Requested document replies are sent through Gmail to the owner’s configured Kindle address, where Amazon handles delivery. Google provides Gmail and Pub/Sub services.

Night notes does not sell notebook or Google user data, use it for advertising, or publish it on this website. Its use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Security and control

OAuth credentials are kept in owner-only local files and are not passed to the notebook-processing worker. Source checks, local audit records, duplicate checks and platform approval controls remain in place. The owner may revoke authorization through Google Account connections, stop the listener, and manage local records.

This website

This informational site has no forms, mailbox access or application analytics. Its hosting provider may maintain normal security and access logs. It does not display or store notebook exports.
